November 2009

The movie, Pope Joan, premiered in Germany.  Donna and her family were able to attend - and what fun they had!  Here's Donna's report, as shared in her email update:

For a sense of the fuss and the glamour of the occasion, watch this video. One of the best parts: a hair-and-makeup person who followed me around, doing "touch-ups". Boy, could I use that in everyday life--no stray hairs, no lipstick on teeth, no food (or
wine ) spills on clothes. Terrific! In future Updates, I'll share more about the experience and my interaction with the actors (David Wenham fans, be sure to tune in.)

As for the date of the U.S. premiere--still unknown. Constantin tells me that they have interest from U.S. distributors, but as yet no commitment. Meanwhile, here are some still pix of the movie to whet your appetite.

The film is beautiful. It's also brilliantly acted and directed. And
despite false rumors, it's in English. The film was dubbed into German for German audiences, who consider that preferable to subtitles. The trailers that are on YouTube right now are from that dubbed-into-German version, but I hope to have the original (i.e. English-language) version up very soon.
